Diverse Illustrations of women in politics, Elect Her CIC
What I did: client discussions, drawing sketches, feedback, creating final artworks delivered as PNGs.
What the client needed
Earlier this year I was approached by the wonderful Rosie from Elect Her CIC to create illustrations for their Scottish Parliament take-over event in June 2023. They were looking for non-partisan illustrations which represented the diverse women around the UK who are politically active. The artworks would be used for the event and beyond as part of Elect Her branding.
*The graphics design of the pull-up banners was by the wonderful Michaela Pointon. It has come together really nicely! Thank you Michaela.
My part of the project
For this project, I started with a client conversation with Rosie from Elect Her. We developed a brief which give them the outcomes they needed with their available budget. We agreed on a style and Rosie gave me insight into the life of a woman in politics which I could develop into sketches. The project would include drawings of 20 diverse women working in politics doing activities such as activism, leafletting, speaking & hosting and swearing-in.
Once we agreed on the sketches and made tweaks to make them all fit, I illustrated the final drawings.
It was also extremely exciting to see my illustrations dotted around the Scottish Parliament.
