Ferrari & beach mural
What I did: mural design & mural painting
What the client needed
A 1930s-1940s Grand Prix inspired Ferrari mural to be painted on two facing double doors in a private residence. The clients were inspired by my Rogano mural and wanted to brighten up their wooden doors with the artwork. The clients sent me pictures of the kind of design they were looking for.
My part of the project
I researched retro footage and photography for inspiration. I developed a colour palette inspired by 1930s Grand Prix posters, and to match the door’s surrounding artworks. Due to the theme; speed, power and Ferrari red was key to a successful design. I approached the painting like a lithograph poster by painting colours in blocks. On-site, I primed the doors, taped and covered the workspace, painted the mural and finally varnished the mural with a mat finish. The painting of both doors took nine working days and an additional day for varnishing.
