Bitter Honey cookbook cover design and illustration

This is illustration was all about playing with flavours and shapes. I was inspired by Letitia Clark’s delicious Sardinian cookbook to create an artwork that gives readers a taste of the ingredients and recipes. I used a digital pencil in combination with a watercolour wash to give a personal yet vivid appearance that stands out on a bookshelf. I used a warm colour palette inspired by fauvism to give the artwork a Mediterranean feel. As a juxtaposition to the more soft approach in the illustration style, I used a sharp and geometric display font for the title and an easy to read san serif font for the subheading and blurb.
