Pride and Prejudice, The Skinny Magazine

What I did: editorial illustration

What the client needed

The Skinny magazine required an artwork for their Pride and Prejudice article exploring what the Pride parade means to people on the LGBTQ+ spectrum in a respectful and inclusive way. The artwork was to be printed in their June issue as well as featured on their website and social media. The magazine’s Art Director, Rachael Hood, approached me with images from my social media channels which quickly provided an insight into the kind of work they were hoping for.

My part of the project

I created numerous rough sketches of the illustration to discuss with the Art Director. As well as working from the copy, I spoke with people within the LGBTQ+ community to help the artwork resonate with the audience. I then sketched a final sketch on paper and inked and coloured the artwork digitally.
